One-on-One personal training sessions

At Journey to Wellness, we are committed to helping you adopt a healthy and fit lifestyle so you look and feel your best. When you sign up with our one-on-one personal training sessions, you can expect safe and effective programming, exercise variety, regular education, as well as constant support and guidance. But be aware that your trainer will hold you accountable so you will have someone looking over your shoulder. For many, the accountability alone will give you the edge you need to succeed.
 
During personal training sessions, we can focus on cardiovascular exercise, muscle-conditioning, flexibility, nutrition or a combination of all of these depending on your goals, strengths and weaknesses. Workouts take place in our private studio so you can listen to the music you want, use the equpment when you want to and feel comfortable while you exercise. We really do strive to make sessions as individualized as possible, effective and lots of fun!

Small Group Session (2-3 participants)

Small group personal training offers clients the enthusiasm and encouragement from a group environment while still getting personalized attention and fitness routines tailored to your specific needs all at an affordable rate. Small group training (2-4 participants) is perfect for a group of friends or co-workers who have similar goals, enjoy the added support and savings, but still seek the expertise and motivation from a personal trainer. Imagine having a personal trainer for as little as $18.33* per session!
 
*based on a 20-session package for three participants.

Pre-natal Fitness

Regular exercise increases strength, gives you energy, and keeps you healthy. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), exercise is just as important during pregnancy. Not only can proper exercise help alleviate common pregnancy discomforts, it can also help prepare you for labor and childbirth. With a physician's approval, women can safely continue exercising through to delivery.
 
Our prenatal fitness program teaches pregnant women how to exercise safely and effectively throughout their pregnancy. The prenatal fitness class/training session will provide you with exercises that are safe and appropriate for your changing body by combining elements of strength training, cardiovascular exercises, stretching, balance and relaxation. Modifications for any level exercisers at any stage in pregnancy will be demonstrated.
 
Pregnancy is the perfect time to commit to you and your baby's health. Exercise is an important component to your pregnant well being, as well as your strength as a new mom. Please note that medical approval is required before you start your pre-natal exercise program. The PARmed-X for Pregnancy, which must be signed by your physican, can be downloaded here.

Post-natal Fitness (Classes and Private Personal Training)

 Now that you're a mom, exercise can easily become less of a priority. After all, looking after a baby is a 24-hour job. What we tend to forget while looking after baby is that we MUST continue to look after ourselves! A healthy and happy mom = a healthy and happy baby. Some important things to remember. 
  • Daily physical activity reduces stress and it can help you sleep better.
  • Fitness helps keep you healthy and has been linked to reducing the risk of some diseases and to warding off depression (help say goodbye to post partum depression or just feel a little better on those days when our little darling turns into a monster)
  • Cardiovascular exercise and strength training can help your body return to pre-pregnancy shape faster.
  • Exercise actually gives you energy when you feel like you have no energy left. Yes, exercise will actually make you feel better! You just have to get moving!
  • Exercise improves self-esteem, increases stamina and ultimately helps you be able to do continuous work for longer (remember, motherhood doesn't end at 6pm!)

Whether you want to get back to your pre-pregnancy fitness level or simply gain the energy you need to play with your kids at the playground, Journey to Wellness is available to help you to meet your fitness goals. And with our private studio options, we can demonstrate how to work out with your baby or enjoy a personal training session while your baby sleeps!! Nutrition Counselling/Coaching

It is very important to remember that Nutrition is vital when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. You can stick to an exercise routine perfectly but if you do not pay close attention to your nutritional needs, you will not see the results you are looking for.
 
At Journey to Wellness, we understand the importance of nutrition. All personal training packages will include a nutrition evaluation and continuous coaching. In addition to your exercise program, nutrition will become a part of your on-going regime. Additional services such as cupboard/fridge evaluation and purge or a grocery store 'date' are available at additional costs. Please contact info@journey2wellness.ca for further information.

Workplace Presentations/Lunch n' Learn

The benefits of health promotion and wellness programs are vast and well documented. Health and wellness education in the workplace can:
  • improve morale
  • decrease absenteeism
  • improve communication among work groups
  • increase employee loyalty to your organization
  • reduce alcohol and drug use risk factors

The time you invest now to train employees in health and wellness saves you money for your company later. In addition to the above benefits, wellness programs can make a positive impact on your company's bottom line. Research suggests that for every $1 invested in health promotion, your company can save between $3 to $5 in health and safety costs, such as medical, absenteeism and workplace accidents.
 
All group sessions are scheduled at 11am or 12pm Monday through Friday and can be customized to your needs. Choose from a one-hour brown bag workshop on fitness or nutrition basics or opt for a full group fitness class for you and your co-workers, focusing on strength training and cardiovascular exercises.
